Damflask and Agden Reservoirs Low Bradfield RFM Blue Line Walking with Peter

Damflask and Agden Reservoirs Low Bradfield
RFM Blue Line
Walking with Peter

14/03/25

The walk started where we parked next to the cricket ground at Low Bradfield. We were not the only visitors as there were many cars parked there.
Heading down the valley we followed the road for a short distance and then went through a gate onto the path next to Damflask reservoir.
It is remarkably beautiful especially when you consider how close we are to Sheffield.
At the boat house we paused to appreciate the view.

We chatted to a guy sitting on a bench at the boat house with 2 Shih tzus, both dressed in woolly jumpers. He explained his mother had re-purposed a jumper to dress the dogs. This one in shot was chatty but obviously warm well done this guy's mum.
Peter taking in the joy of the placid reservoir from the earthen dam.
The spillway was empty. In the far distance we could see the Sheffield suburbs on the ridge top. I think this was Stannington but am happy to be corrected.
Looking back up Damflask from the dam towards Low Bradfield.
Back at Low Bradfield we passed a typical farmstead endemic to the area.
The bridge over the small stream had a pipe crossing it which we were sure we would have tackled in our youth. We were stupid like that when we were kids.
Heading towards Agden Res we could see the crags above Bradfield, where we had walked before.
The dam was not accessible but it looked like a few had climbed the wall to get to it.

The views from Agden were actually more beautiful than Damflask but the terrain was much more challenging. We sat on a moss covered old wall and had our coffee and snack. Mine was a trail bun.
The path through the trees was great.

We crossed the input stream above Agden and headed back down towards the north shore of the res.

Isn't Yorkshire just great.

We followed the lanes back to the cricket pitch and our cars. We had passed many people on this walk and everyone was friendly and happy to exchange greetings. Some chatted but most were just getting on with their walk or in some cases runs. Obviously plenty of friendly dogs to greet.
The walk was 6.25 miles and climbed a total of 425 feet. My steps shows around 15000. A good first walk after he winter break for Fuerteventura. Next week it will be a bit tougher.

Agden is definitely more challenging that Damflask! We always finish any walks in that area at the pub on the top sude of Damflask, there's a bus stop there to catch a bus back into Sheffield! Good day for walking today too
