Walking in Lapland Inari Rest Day
The first stop was the tourist spot at Karhunpesäkivi Rock. This was a cafe gift shop and a wooden staircase to the top of the hill via a rock that was inverted and known as the bear cave. The following photos are from that site. Note only Michael and I climbed the staircase. It was officially closed due to needing repair but the waiter explained that it was still ok to climb so we did. The girls decided a rest day did not include climbing over 400 steps. We met a group near the top and we had a long interesting conversation with them. Everyone seems to speak english.
On to Inari the administrative and cultural centre of Lapland. The cafe in the main building was interesting as we had coffee and cake and must have out-stayed our welcome as they turned the lights out to hurry us along. Nothing changes the world over. It was actually a very pretty place and the lake is enormous. The photos are from the lake, Siida - Sámi Museum and Nature Center, the Sajos cultural centre and parliament, and the river. We could have spent much longer there. As an aside the buffet lunch in the Siida was excellent.
